As an elementary school teacher, I had a very difficult time finding books that were simple enough for my most novice readers. The few books I did have had simple black and white drawings that did not engage my students. That's why I decided to collaborate with a local artist to create these colorful and enjoyable books. These simple books not only include words that are easy to decode, but they introduce the most commonly used high frequency words. The level 1 Learn to Read Toolbox introduces your reader to 8 short vowel word families, 16 of the most common sight words, and the wonder of reading. Each short and simple book builds on the skills of the one before, gradually introducing longer sentences, more sight words, and new word families. The whimsical artwork of each story will make these books come to life unlike any other early reading material.
